Been debunking the spare the rod the bible says we should spank talk for 25 years.

I always came back to just how would Jesus talk to my child about this. Sometimes just in the second it takes to say, hmmm, what's this? instead of our intense parenting reactions, (well pointed out, so often based in fear or embarassment) is the moment to allow God's grace to wash over us and see the relationship before the behaviour.

lovely PMPracticing Mammalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04274507983353868813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084876109811698517.post-37991015037359472572011-07-09T20:20:12.537-07:002011-07-09T20:20:12.537-07:00Wonderful interpretation of this scripture! Interesting too how most punishment creates fear in our children and uses fear as the motivation to get obedience. But there is no place for fear in love.Lesliehttp://realchilddevelopment.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084876109811698517.post-43906679634014975362011-07-08T14:37:19.675-07:002011-07-08T14:37:19.675-07:00What a great post, Dulce. And as I've been working through my power and control issues as a parent, focusing on the insecurity behind it all, I somehow didn't make the full-circle connection back to the way that security leads to grace and mercy. Beautiful post that I'm sure will touch many others as it did me!Meredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16332544075938121114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084876109811698517.post-11961229084011386952011-07-07T12:17:04.599-07:002011-07-07T12:17:04.599-07:00Thanks for talking about the fear aspect of puniti...Thanks for talking about the fear aspect of punitive discipline. It was fear that caused me to go against my better judgement and spank my kids early on. It took over a year of not spanking to stop being afraid, and I'm not sure how I ever thought that spanking made any sense. Whenever I do slip up and yell at my kid, it never goes anywhere constructive, so how did I think hitting them was going to help anything??Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13674332089949439989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084876109811698517.post-47467344373550127572011-07-07T11:06:35.460-07:002011-07-07T11:06:35.460-07:00That is awesome! :) my FIL is Mayan, and it remin...That is awesome! :) my FIL is Mayan, and it reminds me of the Mayan Tree of Life and some of the alien-related stuff there. :)dulce de lechehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01641970264436339191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084876109811698517.post-88004541029509942282011-07-07T10:23:44.712-07:002011-07-07T10:23:44.712-07:00Thanks, this is another great post.

I told him no one really knows for sure, everyone has a different idea. And he said they probably come from a giant tree somewhere in the world that no one has discovered.
Now there's a new theory! I thought nothing could be new on that front lol. Can't fault his imagination.Pippihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05598890631695015818noreply@blogger.com
